On January 6, over three years after the device made its debut on Kickstarter, the Oculus Rift is finally being made available for pre-order.
To reward those who helped the Rift get its feet off the ground all those years ago, Oculus will be handing out free Kickstarter Edition Rifts to those backers who bought the very first iteration of the headset, the DK1.
Like everyone else who pre-orders a Rift, those lucky few will also receive free copies of virtual reality platfomer Lucky’s Tale and EVE: Online spin-off, EVE: Valkyrie.
Assuming they live in one of the 20 countries Rift is launching in, DK1 owners will be able to claim their free headset by filling out a survey due to be sent out before February 1 and providing a shipping address.
Oculus has promised it’s working on an alternative solution for anyone who doesn’t live in a launch territory.
